The National Transformational Leadership Institute in partnership with UNDP-Civil Society Advisory Committee (CSAC) project organized a training for peace committees in Yambio, Gbudue State from July 18th to 20th 2017. The training took place at Tourist Hotel and brought together 37 participants from Nzara and Yambio counties. The participants compromised of Payam Administrators, Chiefs, Church Leaders, Farmers and Business community representatives, Teachers, Civil Society Organizations, State Peace Commission Advisors, Government and Non-Governmental Organizations.
The objective of the training was to impart knowledge and skills on conflict management and peace building, create an understanding of gender and how it is affected by conflict, sensitize participants on the significance of managing and resolving conflict peacefully and build skills on transformational leadership to enable peace committee members to manage conflict resolution in their respective counties. Participants acquired skills on team building, networking and solidarity which are vital in information sharing and dissemination.
The participants called for the inclusion of men and women as well as children in peace building processes noting that collective efforts from the community (both men and women) and development partners are needed to achieve sustainable peace.
